The Opportunity

We are seeking Remote Pilots for our stratospheric flights in 2025 and beyond. In this role, you will be working within the flight and operations teams to prepare, launch, fly and retrieve our airship during flight missions. We require remote pilots initially on a casual basis who are available to travel throughout Australia for short durations at a time. 

Your Role

As a Remote Pilot, you will:

  • Remotely pilot a large airship;

  • Follow operational procedures and training;

  • Work collaboratively with co-workers, managers, the broader team, and external stakeholders;

  • Participate in training activities. Training activities will be held remotely, on the job at our flight test location in central Queensland or at our Brisbane location; and

  • Assist with Ground Crew duties, such as packing and set up of the airship, running errands, ground handling prior to flight, recovery, and other similar duties.

About You

The required skills for a Remote Pilot are:

  • A Flight Crew Licence (PPL/CPL/ATPL) or an RPAS licence in one category; and

  • A pass in IREX or hold a Command Instrument Rating.

Other skills that may be advantageous include:

  • IFR, controlled airspace, or complex RPAS experience;

  • Experience in aviation or aerospace. This could be any experience, including, but not limited to, engineering, building, maintaining, or working with weather balloons;

  • Being comfortable working and staying in remote locations;

  • A full Australian driver’s licence or truck licence; and

  • Teamwork, attention to detail and positive risk awareness.
